MEMBERSHIPS

MEMBERSHIP TYPES & FEES

Membership in the AzDEO shall be extended to any individual or organization that subscribes to and supports the stated mission of the AzDEO upon payment of annual dues to NDEO, our national affiliate organization, and without regard to sex, race, color, creed, disability or national origin
All members of AzDEO will automatically receive dual membership with the national organization (NDEO).

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS

Individuals actively working/teaching in dance or dance education: dance educators, dancers and choreographers, dance specialists in medicine/science and technology, arts educators and administrators. Also for individuals interested in supporting or promoting dance or dance education.
Includes:

Eligibility to take OPDI courses (application fee waived; separate course tuition fees apply).

Subscription to the Journal of Dance Education and Dance Education in Practice

Individuals pursuing a Ph.D / Ed.D. in any field related to dance and dance education.
Includes:

Eligibility to take OPDI courses (application fee waived; separate course tuition fees apply)

Subscription to the Journal of Dance Education and Dance Education in Practice 

A one-year non-renewable membership for individuals who are within 3 years of graduation from a high school, community college, college (associate degrees), university (bachelor’s or master’s degrees) or conservatory program and who are teaching or working in the field of dance or dance education. Must provide proof of recent graduation date (i.e. a diploma or transcript) to [email protected].

Subscription to the Journal of Dance Education and Dance Education in Practice 

Individuals retired from a career in dance or dance education.

Subscription to Dance Education in Practice for an additional $20


Subscription to the Journal of Dance Education for an additional $25

STUDENT MEMBERSHIPS

Available to full time matriculated students. Full time is generally defined as a course load of 10 to 12 credit hours or 4 courses a semester. Being a student in OPDI alone, or in a low residency part-time program, does not qualify one for an NDEO Student Membership.

Graduate students pursuing master’s degrees in the dance or dance education field.

If the institution attended is an NDEO Post Secondary Institutional Member, discounts on NDEO National Conference registration fees are available.

Subscription to the Journal of Dance Education and Dance Education in Practice

Undergraduate students pursuing associate or bachelor degrees in the dance or dance education field. Includes:

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIPS

All NDEO Institutional Memberships provide an institution with the following benefits:

Eligibility to start a chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) for the benefit of the institution’s students.
Ability to offer a 30% discount on Individual Professional Memberships to faculty members (limits apply; see types below). 

Dance studios and academies that teach dance primarily to students ages birth to 18, as well as adults. 

Eligible for up to 2 faculty discounts on Professional Memberships. For full member benefits, please see below.

Public and private schools with grades Pre-K to 12th that offer dance classes to their students. 

Eligible for up to 2 faculty discounts on Professional Memberships. For full member benefits, please see below.

Dance education departments of performing arts organizations

(e.g. San Francisco Ballet, New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey), community center organizations that offer dance programs (e.g. YMCA), and dance service organizations (e.g. DanceUSA, Dance Heritage Coalition). Eligible for up to 2 faculty discounts on Professional Memberships. For full member benefits, please see below.

Colleges and universities that offer associate, bachelor’s, master’s degrees, or dance minors in dance or dance education, as well as any type of conservatory program that caters to the post-high school student. In addition to the benefits included with all NDEO Institutional Memberships,

Higher Education Institutional Memberships include:
Eligible for up to 4 faculty discounts on Professional Memberships.


Eligibility to start a NDEO Student Chapter for the benefit of the institution’s students.


NDEO National Conference registration fee discounts for NDEO Student Members who attend the institution (separate NDEO Student Membership required)

All NDEO Institutional Memberships provide an institution with the following benefits:
